WELCOME INTO AP's
CREATIVE EXPERIENCE
Alexis D. Pipkins Jr., known as “AP,” is a visionary artist, musician, and media arts specialist, as well as the founder and leader of AP & Soulful Touche’. Born on December 2, 1996, in Florence, South Carolina, AP has built a creative identity rooted in music, multimedia, and purpose-driven expression.
As the oldest of four children, AP was raised in an environment where creativity and music were ever-present. From an early age, he immersed himself in the arts through choir, musicals, jazz band, drumline, and church ministry. A pivotal moment in his childhood being welcomed into a new classroom by Mrs. Kim Matthews (rest in peace) provided him with a space to freely express his creativity, helping shape the artist he would become.
AP has spent over seven years working professionally as both a freelancer and corporate creative, developing his skills across videography, photography, music, and digital media. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Digital Media and a minor in Piano from Claflin University, and later obtained a Master of Arts in Media Communications with a specialization in Media Production from Norfolk State University
In 2021, AP founded AP & Soulful Touche’ with a mission to create music that goes beyond entertainment music that inspires, uplifts, and connects on a deeper emotional and spiritual level. He later introduced his signature genre, G.U.M.B.O. (Giving, Unique, Melodies, Beats, Omnipotent), blending soul, funk, jazz, and diverse influences into a sound that is both fresh and transformative.
AP & Soulful Touche’ has performed on notable platforms including WACH Fox 57’s Good Day Columbia, The Chosen 1 Television Show, WLTX News, and Terence Young’s The Playlist Series. The band has also appeared at major festivals such as the Jubilee Festival (opening for Tweet), the Pecan Festival, the Juneteenth Festival (opening for Blackstreet), and the Auntie Karen Foundation’s Legends of Concert & Auction (opening for Grammy Award-winning artist PJ Morton).
At the core of AP’s work is a commitment to authenticity and purpose. He believes, “You must first know your purpose in order for God to reveal your destiny, leading you to elevation.” He also stands firm in the idea that individuality is power: “There is no need to imitate because the greatest version of yourself is who you already are.”
Through music and multimedia, AP continues to create experiences that inspire growth, connection, and lasting impact.
